Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
An AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) is a value-added service offered by Tata Motors (TML) to commercial vehicle owners. Under the AMC, TML provides maintenance and repair services at authorized service stations across India. Customers can choose from various AMC packages that offer different levels of coverage, ranging from comprehensive maintenance to scheduled services or labor only. This service is branded as "SURAKSHA”, it allows customers to focus on their business while Tata Motors takes care of vehicle maintenance.
Opting for an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) offers several important advantages:
- Predictable Costs: With an AMC, you pay a fixed amount, protecting your business from unexpected maintenance expenses or sudden repair bills.
- Simplified Payments: AMC eliminates the hassle of handling cash or making indirect payments, reducing the need to send cash with drivers or manage workshop transactions individually.
- Effortless Maintenance Tracking: All vehicle maintenance and related costs are tracked and managed for you, saving time and removing the burden of monitoring expenses across your fleet.
- Nationwide Service Access: AMC service is available at authorized centers across India. Service and repairs can be done wherever your vehicle is, without waiting for it to return to a specific base location.
Choosing AMC means greater peace of mind, better cost control, and less administrative hassle, allowing you to focus more on your core business.
Warranty and AMC work together to provide complete vehicle protection. Here's what makes AMC valuable even during the warranty period:
Warranty covers: Manufacturing defects and issues arising from product faults. AMC additionally covers:
- Consumables and Service Parts: Items like filters, grease, coolant, and lubricants must be paid out-of-pocket during warranty, but are included in your AMC package.
- Wear-and-Tear Components: Normal wear-and-tear parts are not covered by warranty but are protected under AMC (subject to proper vehicle usage and handling).
- Predictable Maintenance Costs: Even during warranty, routine service expenses can add up. AMC bundles these costs into one fixed payment, making budgeting easier.
Your warranty benefits remain fully intact with AMC—you simply gain additional coverage for routine maintenance and wear & tear items that warranty doesn't address. Together, they ensure comprehensive vehicle care from day one.
A commercial vehicle, like any other machine, may experience wear and tear or occasional component failures over time. Beyond the regular scheduled service requirements—such as filter replacements and lubricant top-ups—certain parts may need replacement depending on usage. These can include clutch assemblies, brake liners and pads, shaft assemblies, bearings, or fan belts.
In rare cases, even major aggregates like the engine, gearbox, or differential may require repairs or overhauling due to normal wear and tear. Such unforeseen maintenance needs can lead to significant, unplanned expenses. By opting for an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC), you are protected from these sudden repair costs, ensuring predictable maintenance expenses and peace of mind throughout your vehicle’s operation.
AMC packages are available for a 1 year/ Up to 2 year/ Up to 3year/ Up to 4 year/ Up to 5 year/ Up to 6-year period and for a pre–specified contract KMs / Hrs.
The Platinum & above package of a vehicle is available for renewal up to 6 years from date of sale. After this period a Silver AMC renewal may be possible.
Currently TML offers AMC package for up to 6 years from vehicle date of sale. Beyond the 6year period the AMC may be renewed for a year at a time as per the renewal policy. A Platinum & above package may renewed up to 8 years after which Silver package will be provided.

The standard AMC price list is applicable for rated load and standard highway applications.
For vehicles operating with shorter annual kms, lower operating speeds (<30 km/h), or under special applications, a customized quote can be obtained from the Fleetcare Pricing Team through the local Tata Motors Fleetcare Manager or Channel Partner.
The suspension system’s condition depends heavily on factors such as vehicle load, route conditions, and driving habits — all of which are beyond Tata Motors’ control. Moreover, many transporters modify or alter the factory-fitted suspension setup to suit their operational needs.
Since these factors significantly affect the wear and performance of the suspension, it is not feasible for Tata Motors to ensure consistent maintenance of the system under an AMC. Therefore, the suspension is excluded from AMC coverage.
The battery and associated cables are manufactured by a proprietary manufacturer who provides a specified warranty for the battery. Beyond this period the life of the battery depends on proper operation and usage of the vehicle’s electrical system (i.e. no additional fitments added to the vehicle and powered by the battery).
These parts can be covered at additional cost under customized AMC, as per customer requirements OR standard coverage in FMS Pack 2.
Checking the oil level daily is the responsibility of the customer or driver. The oil top-up requirement for each vehicle may vary depending on its maintenance condition and monthly usage. Under the AMC, oil top-ups are not covered when oil consumption occurs due to normal engine operation over time. However, if oil leakage is observed, a top-up will be provided after the leakage issue has been inspected and resolved.
For a customer, setting up and operating their own workshop comes with several limitations:
- High Fixed Costs: Establishing a workshop involves significant expenses such as infrastructure (land, shed, and equipment), manpower (mechanics, supervisors, and administrators), and power. These costs remain fixed and cannot easily scale up or down with fluctuations in vehicle maintenance demand. In addition, customers must bear the cost of maintaining spares and lubricants inventory, as well as equipment upgrades and upkeep.
- Limited Coverage: Customer-owned workshops are restricted to specific locations and cannot be set up across multiple regions or routes, limiting maintenance flexibility.
- Operational Effort: Running a workshop requires constant management and supervision to ensure smooth operations, adding to the customer’s workload and operational complexity.
In contrast, an AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) offers a flexible and cost-effective solution. Customers pay only for the vehicles covered under the AMC and can access services at 1,800+ Tata Motors authorized service centre’s across the country. These workshops are equipped with advanced tools and diagnostic equipment, and staffed by trained technicians who provide expert service and technical guidance—ensuring consistent maintenance quality without the hassles of running an in-house workshop.

You are required to follow all operational and maintenance guidelines mentioned in the Owner’s Service Book (OSB) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient vehicle performance. Your adherence to these duties ensures you continue to enjoy the benefits of your opted VAS package.
You must read the OSB carefully to understand the vehicle’s operational aspects, features, and maintenance requirements. Follow all driver tips, driving instructions, and safety guidelines provided.
Always use good quality diesel and genuine Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to ensure smooth functioning.
Avoid adulterated fuel or DEF — any damage caused by poor-quality fluids is not covered under AMC.
- Clean the fuel tank and DEF tank once every year or at 100,000 KMs / 2000 hours, whichever is earlier.
- Do not overload the vehicle beyond the permitted limit.
- Follow all OSB guidelines for regular checks and upkeep.
- Use Tata Motors genuine DEF and prevent adulteration.

Yes. If you have opted for VAS: Ensure drivers strictly follow processes for ATS regeneration.
Any deliberate inhibition causing ATS failure will lead to loss of VAS benefits. For CNG vehicles, check cylinder valve functioning regularly. If the engine continues running after valves are closed, get them inspected or replaced immediately.
If you fail to follow any of the customer / Driver duties, Tata Motors may withhold or cancel the benefits available under your VAS contract.
